"The Island of Dream"

There is a place what I think one of the most beautiful islands in the world. It’s called Bora Bora. The original name of the island in the Tahitian language 'Pora Pora,it means "First Born" and in 18th- and 19th century documents were found and at that time the name was: "Bollabolla".

This is a tiny islet in the group of the Society Islands of French Polynesia. It is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. Mount Otemanu sits at the centre of the island. These are the most visited places on the isle.

Today Bora Bora is mainly dependent on tourism. Tourists admire the buildings which are typically built in Polynesian style. Houses are a few feet above the in the lagoon so from the window you can wonder the sunup and the sunset.

During when I was reading interesting things about the island I found something what I didn’t know. Tattoos originated in Polynesia. A man's family origin was tattooed on his right side while his victories and awards on his left. They made it with shark's tooth. The government banned officially this ritual.

Bora Bora is associated with the most romantic island in the Pacific- Ocean. Perfect place for hooneymoon! To tell the truth this country is very expensive. So if you like to visit it you have to open your purse.

Bora Bora must be one of the most beautiful places in the world. The pictures are amazing. And I haven't heard about the origin of tattoos so far. If I had enough money, I would travel to this wonderful island.

I confess I am planning a vacation to Bora Bora, where I could rest after my Proficiency Exam.
It's my gift to myself...
OK, I only wish...

My dream vacation is Fiji, an island, which looks like Paradise.

I haven't been on a tropical islands yet however I would very much like to travel to one. Although I never really thought about which one I would go to but now that I have read so much good about Bora Bora I think that it will be the next destination where I will travel to. That is if I will have the money to do so.:)

My dream vacation was Egypt, because of the pyramids, sphinx, culture and civilisation. And in 2007 my dream came true, because I flew to Egypt. You can't imagine what kind of feeling was for me!

I think Bora Bora is amazing. Those pictures are beautiful! I just simply can't imagine to spend that much money for 'just' a holiday, leastwise while I have more important things to pay for... Till then we have Lake Balaton and of course Croatia :)

Amazing entry and amazing pictures, Dóri. You made me want to travel there.
In my opinion The Maldives are as beautiful as Tahitian islands and is a bit cheaper that them. I would consider wether Tahiti or The Maldives worth more travelling to.
Anyway, your entry impressed me.
